So, yeah, I started grad school last week. It's ok so far, given that I've only attended one session of each class.

It's a nice enough campus.

In other news, The Scotsman fancies itself to be pretty funny:

And I'm sorry, but "Homeland Security" just sounds wrong. It makes me think of Nazis and 1984 and oppression and that is not just because of who came up with it.

Also I'm well aware that wasn't high-class political analysis I just did there, but seriously, people should look at who they are bothering before they start harassing them. If he looks like Ted Kennedy, talks like Ted Kennedy, drinks like Ted Kennedy, and has Ted Kennedy's ID, then just maybe it's Ted Kennedy. If it's not, well, you certainly had every right to assume it was Ted Kennedy. That's all I'm saying.

Maybe the system needs some work, yo. OH NOES

CNN.com - Kennedy: Airline Security Risk?

Um, if he's having problems with getting on planes...

I mean wait THE SYSTEM IS FINE MOVE ALONG NOTHING TO SEE HERE YOUR GOVERNMENT IS NOT NOR HAS IT EVER BEEN STOOPID

WTF, Ann Coulter?

Stop bothering the English. We don't really need even MORE people thinking the US is completely full of re-re's.

Honestly, while I acknowledge that varying points of view are good for society, and that craziness is inherent in humanity, I really think it says something not so good about us that we're the only Western country (to my knowledge) that has such a loony in a very prominent place, with so many people paying attention and agreeing... I could've sworn people as radical and insane as her got weeded out in the does-this-person-appeal-to-the-broadest-age-range section of the Have Political Clout test. I'm all for variety, it's just I'd rather not have my variety be so full of hate, so blind, and so utterly retarded in addition to having so much power.

The world does not need more hate. So screw you, Ann Coulter. Fuck you.

Study: Low Wal-Mart Wages Cost Calif. $86 Million

I quote:

The report said many of Wal-Mart's 44,000 California employees in 2001 relied on food stamps, Medicare and subsidized housing to make ends meet and also need more public health care than typical retail workers.

. . .

Wal-Mart spokeswoman Sarah Clark criticized the study.

"It's disappointing that UC Berkeley would release a study whose findings are questionable," she said. "Their researchers are going to get faulty conclusions when they are working with faulty assumptions."

For example, she said that two-thirds of Wal-Mart workers were either senior citizens, college students or second income providers likely to have health care coverage.

But if that's true, then how come there is all the evidence to the contrary?

Frikkin Wal-Mart. WHY DON'T YOU TRY SELLING YOUR LIES IN PACKAGES, IT MIGHT BE CHEAPER FOR SHIPPING.

OMG I have not posted here in ages. Ooops. It is probably because I am lazy at work and forget. D'oh!

Mostly work is typing lawyerly things up and answering the telephones. It is ok work. I look foward to school, though.

Right now I am too awake to go to bed, which is bad because it throws off my sleep schedule. Then again, I took a nap this afternoon due to headache, so it is not unexpected.

I saw Hellboy! It was quite good. So was Hard-Boiled; it is now probably one of my favorite films. Tony Leung is pretty rad. So is Chow-Yun Fat, but I knew that already.
